Producing upholstered furniture in Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the world's leading furniture exporters, and its upholstery production has matured into a serious base for sofas, sectionals and seating. The best results come from matching each product to a line built for upholstery, sampling before production, and having your own people on the ground to oversee quality through to container loading.

Why Vietnam for upholstery

Vietnam built its reputation on wood furniture and has spent the past decade developing equally strong upholstery capability. The largest furniture cluster sits in the south, around Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai, with deep water ports for container export. For buyers this means skilled sewing and upholstery labour, established material supply, and the scale to ship steady container volumes.

What separates good upholstery production

Two sofas can look identical in a photo and perform very differently in a home or a hotel. The difference is in the parts you cannot see:

  • Frame: solid wood and plywood cut accurately and assembled square, so the piece stays rigid.
  • Foam and filling: the right density for each seat and back, applied evenly to the frame and cushions.
  • Cutting and sewing: fabric and leather cut to pattern with consistent seams and alignment.
  • Upholstery: even tension and clean corners, piece after piece.
  • Inspection: every unit checked before it is cartoned, not a sample from the batch.

Our Vietnam production runs these as eight stages: sample development, component cutting, frame assembly, foam application, cutting and sewing, cushion filling, upholstery, and inspection and packing. See each stage.
